An individual who brought the issue of pollution to our national attention was Lady Bird Johnson. As First Lady of our country, she worked to make people and businesses realize the need to protect our environment. She founded the Highway Beautification Act and the National Wildlife Research Center, to make sure we have a more clean and beautiful tomorrow.
