Save a buck. Save the planet.
Whether you are interested in saving the planet or just saving a dollar or two, we have a great Internet location for you to explore. It’s the Energy Star Web site. Run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, the Energy Star program is designed to “help us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.”
The site is packed with information about energy-saving products, improving your home’s energy efficiency, improving energy performance in buildings through plants and proper construction, various programs and much, much more. We could spend hours just poking around the site and reading up on the most cost-effective, energy-efficient appliances for our homes and businesses.
Applying the information has had a big impact. The Web site states “Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2006 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 25 million cars — all while saving $14 billion on their utility bills.”
So what are you waiting for? Visit the Energy Star Web site, and start learning what you can do to save money and protect the environment.
