TCP, Inc. – Growing to Dominate Energy-efficient Lighting
There’s a little-known company which is having a big impact on energy savings. TCP, Inc., based outside Cleveland, OH, is the leading manufacturer of compact fluorescent light bulbs – you know, those swirl-shaped bulbs (and other shapes too) which save electricity.
Though only a fraction the size of its competitors, TCP manufactures more than one million energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) per day. Over 70 percent of the CFLs sold in the U.S. market are manufactured by TCP under a variety of name brands, private labels and other lighting manufacturers (OLMs). Check the light bulbs the next time you stay at a hotel, visit a restaurant, or enter a healthcare facility. They’re probably made by TCP.
TCP is an innovative leader in the energy efficient lighting market. The company was the first company to introduce the use of the “SpringLamp Inside” rather than a straight tube in a compact fluorescent lamp, providing more lumens and setting a new standard. Other cutting-edge products include a dimmable CFL and an odor-eliminating CFL, the Fresh2. And, many of its products are Energy Star listed.
So take a few moments to visit the TCP Web site, www.tcpi.com and see what the company has to offer. Although the site is currently geared toward the commercial and industrial markets, you can learn a lot. Check out the company’s catalog. (The buglights and cold-cathode flame-tip bulbs are my favorites.) Many of the items are not currently available on the retail market. But type the product number into Google and see what you come up with. Sometimes the latest in energy-saving light bulbs are more available than you think.
